A down one wall kitchen necessarily looks onto an empty space with room beyond. It's likely that this space will be devoted to dining or sitting, or both. So, it makes sense for your kitchen to look good - and by that we mean not entirely like a kitchen. Here, open shelves provide plenty of practical, to hand storage, but are also carefully colour co-ordinated and extremely neat. The result? A kitchen that's good to look at.

Hi. Many owners on our estate have converted their integral garages into studies, playrooms, dining rooms etc as they have room on their driveways for 2 or more cars and never put their cars in the garage. I am thinking of converting mine into a dining room with the original small dining area becoming a music listening area. If I sell my house in a few years would it sell better without the garage?

Hi, a kitchen designer told me that it is not possible to put a oven next to any appliance (dishwasher or washing machine)unless they are one cupboard apart from each other for health and safety reasons. Another kitchen designer told me that it was possible if housing was planned for the oven and appliance. I have seen this layout in newly fitted kitchens, even in one kitchen in this evening's Location Location Location programme (oven and hob next to the washing machine). Who should I believe? thanks for your advice, Loic
