Matthew says: 'Lots of new tomato varieties have been developed for growing in containers, and tomatoes are one of the best things to grow outside in containers. I used to hate them - their watery taste. If you grow smaller varieties outside in a sunny spot, you get a real intensity of flavour. And outside, they grow more slowly, so their flavour is more intense. I've gone from having been an avowed non-tomato eater to eating the golden varieties like sweets.'
