If your front garden is big enough, varying the surfaces will help make the space feel larger still. Here, the seating area has a low-maintenance, sandy-coloured surface that draws attention to it, while the areas around are covered with slate gravel, leading to slate-coloured paving. If your garden is very small, keep to a single-coloured surface - this will help make the space feel more streamlined.
