It may be summer but don’t forget that this is the UK - we are just as prone to sudden wet and windy weather as in the winter. By staking your beautiful blooms you will prevent them from breaking and also keep the garden looking tidy. Wrap garden twine twice around the cane and once around the stem to prevent strangling. If you don’t like canes, there are lots of alternative supports available at garden centres or try using natural twigs, twine and sticks.
