The next issue is getting used to the scale of Hedingham Castle. How to tackle the enormous garden and where are we going to try and develop? How long is it all going to take? And, I suppose, how much energy do we have? The realisation that we have no plantsman skill and experience is hitting home. There is the potential to develop up to 50 acres of overgrown parkland, woods, lakes and the ancient defensive ramparts. It is vaguely funny that we don’t know where to start – that is if you have a warped sense of humour!
