If there's an area of your garden that's overlooked or is overlooking an ugly view, tall planting will provide a screen. Similarly, if your garden backs onto a road or noisy footpath, tall plants that can wave and rustle in the wind will help deaden the noise. For best results, choose plants that are evergreen and won't outgrow the space - think bamboos or spiky architectural plants, such as cordylines. For advice on planning a border, click here.
