It's not just about whether they match or will they fit in - what you choose should meet your needs as far as is possible, as well as suiting the style of your room.

You have two choices – freestanding or built-in – and both types have their pros and cons.
Freestanding Wardrobes
Freestanding wardrobes are portable so you can take them with you when you move, they can be moved round the room if you fancy changing the layout, and there’s a vast choice of designs. But they don’t hold as much as their built-in equivalents, and the space above them is wasted, and looks messy if you stash things on top. You definitely get what you pay for – and many cheaper, flatpack models have flimsy hardboard backs that have a tendency to bow. However, if your budget is tight, they start at under £100 and you can prolong their life and make them more secure by fixing them to the wall behind.
Fitted wardrobes can be built to fit awkward spaces such as sloping ceilings, and utilize every inch of space, though there isn’t such a wide selection of styles as with freestanding models. They’re also much pricier and need to be professionally fitted for the best results, though most companies include installation in the cost.

Few of us can manage without some sort of bedside table, whether just for a clock and paperback, or used for serious storage. And, unless you prefer bedroom furniture to be fully co-ordinated, why not sneak in a side table, designed for the living room, instead? Unless you’re incredibly disciplined clutter-wise, include an element of storage such as a shelf, drawer or cupboard space underneath.

Dressing tables are making a comeback, and add a glamorous, feminine touch to a bedroom, so if you’ve got the room, try to fit one in. Again, go for a design with storage – such as a drawer for your jewellery – and, if space is tight, measure up carefully and buy a compact stool with sits underneath.
