2. Get The Space Right
2. Get The Space Right (Image 2 of 6)
In large bathrooms you must:
- Design for the best use of space.
- Create a focal point, for example by putting a freestanding bath in the middle of room.
- Use screens to divide the space, a partition at the end of a fitted bath will make it feel more intimate.
- Install a double sink, so you can share the space practically.
- Make sure your heat source is sufficient to keep the room really warm.
- Finally, think what else you could use the space for. Could you incorporate an exercise area, a dressing room, a linen cupboard or a laundry area? You need to maximise the use of space to gain maximum profit from your house.
- Check the loo is not too close to the opposite wall.
- Is there enough room to dry yourself when you get out of the bath?
- Make sure you can get comfortable - if your overflow is at one end don't put the radiator at the other.
- Can you use the sink and taps without obstruction?
- How much space would you gain by re-hanging the door?
