The latest looks include more exotic species such as Cabreuva, teak and wenge as an alternative to the more traditional oak. 'There’s no doubt that a wood floor is easier and warmer on the feet,” adds Jacquie Colover, owner of Tuttoparquet – London’s first flagship showroom for Italian wood floor manufacturer Listone Giordano. 'And modern technology has taken the elbow grease out of maintenance. Surfaces only need to be swept with a soft broom or vacuumed when the floor is slightly dusty.' Prices start from £53 per sq m.
