A decent shelving unit or a big mirror will help make a small space feel larger, but you needn't spend lots to find one that fits. 'Old gold frames are ideal for making posh bathroom mirrors,' says Kirstie. 'Find an old one at a junk shop and then revamp it. You can get gold paint from your local art shop and ask your local glazier to provide mirror glass to fit. Bingo! A gold framed mirror for next to nothing.'
If your bathroom lacks natural light, the bigger the mirror the better. Try to place it adjacent to a window (at right angles) to reflect as much daylight back in as possible. Also, look for unusual pieces - Kirstie's shelving unit takes an ordinary room to another level.
