3. Hang Wallpaper
3. Hang Wallpaper (Image 3 of 8)
'You need to give small spaces a big personality,' advises Kirstie. 'So put wallpaper in your bathroom. Many people think it'll get splashed but it's much tougher than it looks. And, by the time you put in your bathroom splashback and mirrors, you don't have to use - or spend - that much. Many shops stock wallpaper that is especially designed for bathrooms with a waterproof coating that stops it being ruined by damp.'
'Before you hang wallpaper in a small bathroom, put it up with Blu Tack to see if you like it or if it's on the right wall. You needn't hang it conventionally, either,' continues Kirstie. 'Consider leaving gaps between the drops to create panels - you'll need to paint the wall beneath in a contrasting colour to show them off - pick one out of the wallpaper pattern for best effect. If you've fallen in love with an expensive wallpaper, the best place to put it is in a downstairs loo, because everyone who comes to the house will see it there.'
