We asked the people in the know at Folksy to come up with their list of the designers, makers and craftspeople to watch (and invest in) for 2012. Here's their list of the top 10.

Helen McAllister

From a converted Victorian hospital Helkatdesign produces soft furnishings, and hand-printed canvases, using natural, quality materials, vintage and vintage-style fabrics.

Roisin Connolly

Roisin Connolly is a jeweller who recently graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone with a 2:1 BDes (Hons) in Jewellery and Metal Design. She makes gorgeous pieces, such as these earrings.

Accessories designer, maker and illustrator based in Nottingham, Kate is currently working on an ever-increasing range of felt animal accessories.

Beledien

Simple, clean designs in modern fabrics from a Kiwi now living in Sussex. She creates modern yet classic craft pieces, such as bags, book covers and purses.

Stephanie Cole

Stephanie's work predominantly explores nature and the shapes, patterns and colours which excite her most, inspired by the seemingly banal to transform a home into an archive of our fantastic heritage.

Jemima Lumley

Jemima makes individually designed, beautifully handcrafted pieces in sterling silver and gold.

Sophie Brough-Orton

Sophie is an embroidery student making striking machine-stitched images, which can be framed and displayed.

Susan Mochrie

Susan's inspiration for her hats and jewellery comes from her Burlesque dancer daughter 'Talulah Blue' and from a love of all things historical and vintage.
