1. I live in rented accommodation and as part of that is a hob which consists of four sealed electric plates. This have years of solid dirt cooked onto them. I have tried caustic soda oven spray and a certain pink liquid product which cleans a penny in seconds! They have both achieved some result, but the hob plates are far from clean and still fill the room with greasey smoke when used. Any tips to get this hob clean would be appreciated.

2. Great information for cleaning the glass in the oven doors. Many people try to use a steam option by using hot water in a suitable container in the oven and trying to steam out the grime and great but that obviously doesn't get them very far. The tip to get the manual online and actually go through the process of removing the panels and cleaning individually is very useful.

We specialised in soft furnishing restoration e.g. carpets & suites. I know that this is probably not the answer you are hoping for but here goes. When radiators leak it is not water, as central heating systems must contain a soultion to inhibit rust. Most modern carpets are an comprised of the fibre tufts woven into a loose mesh and then glued to a backing to give strength and support (either hessian or man made). The rust inhibitor in the radiators will disolve the glues in your carpet and cause the fibres to quickly rot. The damage due to a leaking radiator is pernament and irreparable. If the leak from the radiator was recent I would seriously consider making a claim off your contents insurance. Dog odour is not normally a problem (unless it is urine - takes a bit more work). I would normally suggest for serious cases getting your proffessional cleaner to treat the affected carpet with a antimicrobial prior to cleaning (before setting up the equipment), carry out the full clean as normal and then retreat the carpet with the antimicrobial. When looking for a proffessional I would recomend getting a company for works closely to insurance - e.g. chemdry, rainbow or servicemaster as they can usually access stonger chemicals to treat flood damage. 4. I have espresso coffee maker and today I left it on the heat for longer than expected. Due to this the bottom half has now turned a slight brown colour [it looks more brass coloured than silver] and has burn marks from where the coffee has trickled out. Does you know how I can go about getting this cleaned back to its original finish or close to it?

7. How do I rid the smell of stale water from my lounge carpet, due to the radiator leaking, and also dog odour and feet odour that has sunk deep into the carpet pile. We`have tried everything possible, professional carpet clean, disinfectant, bicarbonate of soda, carpet freshners, nothing seems to get rid of the stale smell. I would really appreciate your help, as it is embarrasing to come into the house and that is the first smell that hits you when you walk into the living room. Every now and then I switch on the plug in air freshner just to give the room a refreshing smell.

9. Hello I had some friends over for dinner, and I put a hot saucepan on a tea towel on top of my Mums best wooden varnished table. It has left a round dark patch and I have tried bleach but it will not come off, my Mum is comming back from holiday in two days and I need some advise on how I can remove it. PLEASE HELP

10. The top of my gas oven (inside) has NEVER been cleaned, the oven was given to me. I tried to use the grill part once to try and cook/burn off the years of grease. Yucky smell and it didn't work, I've tried everything!! Help!!

12. Help. HOw do I get my washing machine back to normal. The softner draw is not working. I take it out and scrub it. Also it smells yucky after some cycles. The machine is only 20months old. An expensive hotpoint machine. PLease help. i used a good house keeping tip, but putting bleach into the drawer and putting it on a 90 wash x2. No good!!
