For urine on the wooden floor i would try to scrub with Murphy's oil soap.

Puppy urine accidents on carpet, blot with paper towels to remove as much as possible then cover the spot with table salt. Make the salt pile pretty thick, 1/2" to 1" thick. Salt will draw out moisture that has gone deeper than the towels will reach. Let the salt dry completely, it will be hard and crusty. Pick the salt off the carpet and then vacuum.

  7. Hi can any one help. How do you remove cat smells off a push chair. A stray has decided that my double buggy is the perfect sleeping place and has marked it's terratory. I have tried stain removers, fabric cleaners, washing up liquids, detol and a few essencial oil's to disenfect. The fabric of the pushchair is too big to go into a washing machine. I'm at my whits end. I cant use pet repelant as my babies have to sit in it at the moment the pushchair is out of use because of the offensive smell.

  9. I am currently decorating and re-carpeting a new house. Sadly the previous owners had cats and dogs, that fouled in the property and although I have removed all the carpets and disinfected I can still smell the "mistakes" their animals made, I need to get rid of the smell as its started my dogs going to the places and also using them as the local toilet, and the smell is driving me mad- HELP!

  10. I was dog sitting and of course this dog went to the bathroom on my living carpet. We have since then became pet owners ourselves. Our puppy decided to go use the same carpet as a bathroom. I watched one of your programmes where you put something down to eliminate the dog from going back to that smell.

  14. To J's question on the 22/07 : how do your cats get to your dirty washing in the first place ? Don't you have a linen basket ? If you do and they still get in, you need another one with a lid that closes properly.

  22. Our cats have suddenly begun peeing on the carpet, even though they are spayed and neutered. This is a new thing, and we have been trying several different things to stop this stinky activity. We have tried several commercial formulas to get cat urine out of the carpet, with little success. Do you have any good methods for removing cat urine? How about discouraging repeat performances in the same spots?

  33. Whether a genuine accident or not, once the cat has urinated or defecated at a particular location its sensitive nose will encourage it to use that place as a regular toilet. The best way to break the habit is to keep the cat away from the area as long as possible, remove any smell that the cat can detect and change the geography of the location by using pieces of furniture to block access. Wash the area with a 10% solution of biological or enzymatic washing powder and then rinse with cold water and allow to dry. Spray the area (using a plant mister) with surgical spirit, scrub and leave to dry. You may want to try a small area first on delicate fabrics. Petfresh (Urine-off) Urine Stain and Odour Remover is a particularly effective product to remove residual odours; this can be purchased from your local veterinary surgery. Carpet is extremely absorbent and the urine often penetrates the full thickness of the carpet to the flooring underneath. If the area is badly soiled over a long period it may be necessary to cut out the section of carpet and underlay and treat the concrete or floorboards underneath before replacing.
