Just don’t let chewing gum or those chewing it in the house in the first place…

Chewing Gum. How To Remove Chewing Gum

Rub ice on the gum to freeze it and scrape off as much as you can with a blunt knife.

If this method isn’t working, heat the gum instead using a hairdryer, then peel off the melted gum, using a plastic bag over your hand. Increase the heat by rubbing in a deep-heating rub before using the hairdryer.

Once the gum has been lifted, wash the spot with mild detergent and water.

To remove chewing gum from fabric - place in freezer or place block of ice over fabric. When the gum has hardened sufficiently, peel off gently taking care not to rip fabric. Hardened gum should lift off fabric.

Always check manufacturer's instructions first. Always try a test patch first. If you are unsure as to whether the item you are cleaning is suitable for our instructions, take professional cleaning advice first.

  1. I recently managed to get chewing gum over my favourite trousers. I tried everything to get it out & nothing worked, i then discovered tea tree oil. Wow tea tree oil is fantastic! I just rubbed tea tree oil on the chewing gum and it gradually dissolved, i then washed my pants on a normal wash and they're as good as new!

  3. Hello, My name is emma and i've just moved into an old rented house. It's quite clean but the toilet is very old and all the area below the water level is stained a dark and unsightly brown inside the bowl. Even continuous scrubbing with hotwater and bleach won't shift it. I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas on how to improve an old and discoloured toilet? Thanks

  9. To remove chewing gum, I used an American product called Krud Kutter and it works on all kinds of surfaces. It is water based, so very safe to use. You just spray it on, leave to penetrate, then just wipe or scrape it off of the surface. The good thing is that it doesn't leave any sticky residue (which is the part that leaves a dirty stain). I found it online.

  13. To remove chewing gum the best way is to warm a egg cup of vinegar in the microwave and then with a white cloth dip into the vinegar and dab onto the item of clothing and you will see the chewing gum just peel off. Afterwards remember to put the item of clothing in the wash - it will stink of vinegar but will have no chewing gum - Yipee!

  14. Where I work as a cleaner they have a marble floor reception area. Is vinegar and water the best way to clean this, or do you have any other ideas? Also would I be better drying it after or letting it dry on it's own? I'm still trying to get old streak marks out!
