Every week: Vacuuming the paper will remove dust and keep wallpaper looking ace.

Wallpaper Rolls. How To Clean Wallpaper

Washable or wipeable wallpapers can be, er, washed or wiped. If you’re not sure if yours is, give a hidden corner of the paper a quick wipe with a just-damp cloth and hope for the best – if the water is absorbed it’s not washable.

Vacuum the paper before washing then wipe it down with a wrung-out cloth and a mild washing-up liquid solution. Don’t go mad with rubbing unless you want to redecorate soon and dab the paper dry with paper towels as you go.

If you need to clean wallpaper try using stale bread that has been ever so slightly moistened. It gets marks off without having to use soap.

Always check manufacturer's instructions first. Always try a test patch first. If you are unsure as to whether the item you are cleaning is suitable for our instructions, take professional cleaning advice first.

  1. I just moved into a new flat and the previous owner left a large area of greasy blotches on the wallpaper in the kitchen. The grease has not sunk into the wallpaper, it's drops of it but scraping them off has not helped much. I'm assuming it's years of not cleaning after having fryups. The wallpaper is not washable, but the stains look hideous. Is there anything I can do to get rid of them other than putting new wallpaper up?
