The only chemical you really need to clean glass, mirrors and windows is acetic acid – that’s vinegar to you, mate.
Shower enclosures: Save yourself a world of scrubbing by keeping a squeegee in the bathroom and go over the shower glass after each shower. Once the soap scum and limescale have set in, melt them away with a squirt of vinegar solution – half water and half clear vinegar. Really persistent scuzz can be attacked with two parts washing soda to one part vinegar or lemon juice. Apply this paste with a damp cloth, leave for 10 minutes then sponge off and rinse.
Glass furniture and mirrors can be buffed up in seconds with just water and a microfibre cloth. For very dirty surfaces, you might need to use some water diluted with washing-up liquid and applied with a sponge, then wiped and buffed dry with that microfibre cloth. To stop a bathroom mirror steaming up, rub shaving foam over it, then buff off with…oh you know.

Windows will sparkle after a polish with the chip-shop favourite – vinegar and newspaper. Dilute your vinegar with water (roughly 1:4) and use a lint-free cloth or chamois leather to clean off grime. For a really good shine, polish with crumpled newspaper.
Exterior windows should be washed by the window cleaner. If you really must do it yourself, a washing-up liquid solution, sponge and squeegee will do the trick. You can then buff them to a shine with newspaper or lint-free cloth.
A good way to clean your mirrors ALL over your home including the large bathroom mirror(s) is to use a teaspoon of AVON bubble bath (any smell you like, I prefer the original pink) in an ice cream bucket of warm water. Dip your cotton cleaning cloth in the water a few times then ring out. Go over small parts of your mirror with a wet cotton cloth followed by a dry cotton cloth. Your mirrors will sparkle "I GUARANTEE".

Buy rain x for your car windshield. Place in a clean spray bottle and use to clean your bathroom fixtures, your countertops and bathroom mirrors. Using this once a month will keep your bathroom shiny and will keep your mirrors from fogging up.

To keep your mirrors from fogging up during a shower..... Clean your mirrors well, then apply shaving cream (not gel) to the mirrors and wipe until you can no longer see any. Works like a charm!

To keep the windows and mirrors clear in a steamed up bathroom smear neat washing up liquid or liquid soap on the window/mirror. You may need to do this on average about once a week. Be careful not to put too much on at first and you should have a mist free window/mirror.

When cleaning windows, mirrors or glass doors or vases add some rinse aid (dishwasher) to the rinse water - no streaks and a sparkly finish - and it smells good!

We have old Edwardian brilliant cut glass badly stained with 100+ years of coal dust, smoke & nicotine which seemed impossible to clean with conventional cleaners. We made a paste of bicarb & vinegar and smeared over, left it for 15 minutes and washed off with a bit of elbow grease - the glass is now sparkling clean.

Always check manufacturer's instructions first. Always try a test patch first. If you are unsure as to whether the item you are cleaning is suitable for our instructions, take professional cleaning advice first.
