F-N

How To Clean Felt:
Dry clean only.

How To Clean Faux Fur:
Cotton and viscose type: Dry clean only.
Polyamide, acrylic or polyester: Wash at 40degrees on delicates setting in washing machine. Shake well and allow to dry naturally.
Spots and stains: Sponge with warm water mixed with a little non-bio washing powder, rinse and dab dry.

How To Clean Lace:
Can be made from cotton, polyester, polyamide or a blend. If no care instructions are given, wash as for the fabric type, using non-bio laundry detergent. Put in a pillowcase before machine washing for extra protection.

Leather. how To Clean Fabrics

How To Clean Leather:
Clothing: Leather clothing described as ‘washable’ can be sponged. Stains and marks can be tackled with soap or soap flakes, lathered up and dabbed on with a sponge. Wipe clean and hang up to dry. Have the item professionally cleaned occasionally to maintain the condition of the leather.
Gloves: Put them on then rub hands gently in a solution of warm water and soap flakes. Hang the gloves up then put them on again when almost dry to get them into shape.
Bags: See How To Clean Luggage
Footwear: See How To Clean Shoes
Furniture: See How To Clean Leather Furniture

How To Clean Linen:
Machine wash on a hot setting, spin and hang out to dry. Iron on reverse while still damp. Check if the item has a special anti-crease finish – if it does it must be dry-cleaned.

How To Clean Nubuck:
Use a specialist nubuck and calf-leather cleaner.

How To Clean Nylon:
Wash at 40degrees on a delicates setting in washing machine. Spin and allow to dry naturally. Absorbs colours easily so wash deep colours separately.

Always check manufacturer's instructions first. Always try a test patch first. If you are unsure as to whether the item you are cleaning is suitable for our instructions, take professional cleaning advice first.

  4. i have been given a lovely set of curtains which are lined. they are cream in colour and are 60% cotton and 40% polyester. The trouble is they have never been used and have been in the original packing for over 1 year. the packaging seems to have split and there is now a huge brown mark which i can only describe as looks like a watermark right in the centre. can you give me some advise on how to get this mark out. thank you adele

  9. I have some orange-coloured stains on the back of a cotton jumper, but am not sure what they are. I have soaked them for 6 hours in "vanish oxi-action," have sprayed "stain slayer" on them and washed the jumper on 90 degrees; but nothing helps. The stains seemed to be embedded in the material. Is there any way I can remove these tenacious stains? ?

  18. I find that if you can catch a stain on clothing right away, the best way to get it out for me is I spray hairspray right on the spot and with a WHITE bar of soap scrub right into the hairspray on the stain. I've even been able to save a white shirt from blood this way!
