Ensure you get your heart starter every morning by keeping the coffee maker in perfect running order.
Cafetieres: take the plunger apart and wash everything in hot soapy water. Buff up a metal frame with a soft cloth.

Electric filter machines: Wipe the main body of the machine with a damp cloth. Wash the filter, filter holder and jug by hand in warm, soapy water unless they are dishwasher safe. Descale if necessary using a descaling product suitable for use in plastic kettles or coffee makers, or clear vinegar. Half-fill the reservoir with vinegar, top up with water, and allow to bubble through. Repeat with clean water.
Espresso/cappuccino machines: Clean and descale as for filter machines (above), taking extra care with the filter as espresso grains are very fine. If you can remove the steam nozzle, wash it in soapy water, and possibly unblock the hole with a pin. If not, immerse it in a jug of hot water.
To clean your coffee grinder, grind some uncooked rice.
