Used 74 times each day (probably) your sink sees a lot of action!
Every day: Wipe down the sink before and after each use. Yes, really.
Every week: Disinfect the sink by filling it with warm water and adding a capful of bleach. Slosh some water into the overflow and scrub round the overflow and plug with an old toothbrush.
Acrylic sinks should not be cleaned with abrasive cleaners, which will scratch the surface. Zap stains by soaking with a weak bleach solution.

Porcelain/ceramic sinks only need warm water and a cream cleaner to keep them fresh, or a splash of vinegar on really determined stains.
Stainless steel sinks will scratch so just say no to harsh scourers – most cream cleaners will deal with stains or rust marks, or try a bicarbonate of soda paste. Get rid of limescale using lemon juice.
I add a cap full of bleach, and a drop of dish washing liquid to hot water in my sink and soak my dishcloths over night. In the morning the cloths are clean and sanitized and the sink is sparkling and disinfected.

To keep your sink clean, after washing up, I sprinkle the surface with bicarbonate of soda and spritz with vinegar I keep in a spray bottle. I use my (clean) dish rag to scrub the surface, then rinse with hot water. Follow up with hydrogen peroxide and you increase the antibacterial punch and reduce water spots. This is environmentally friendly and works better than any commercial cleaners!

To clean a stainless steel sink: I sprinkle bicarbonate of soda all over sink and tap. Then with a tiny spritz of proprietary all-purpose cleaner with bleach. Scrub gently with a nylon scourer, then dampen micro-fibre cloth or any cloth with warm water and remove it all. Buff to a shiny dry sink. I find micro-fibre clothes in the automotive department of any discount retail shop. I love you Kim and Aggie. Stevie in the States (Seattle).

To shine stainless steel sinks generously sprinkle either table salt or baking soda into the sink then use the cut end of half a fresh lemon as a scrubby-pad. Rinse with hot water and the sink will gleam!

When you want to clean the sink of tea stains and make it look like new just sprinkle some washing powder onto the sink and rub in. The sink will come up looking like new. Or better still why not take out your drawer from the washing machine and use the powder from this when you soak it in the sink.

Always check manufacturer's instructions first. Always try a test patch first. If you are unsure as to whether the item you are cleaning is suitable for our instructions, take professional cleaning advice first.
