A bedroom that is well designed and planned out can be extremely appealing to potential buyers and add value to your property. But what is the right way to go about creating the perfect bedroom?

There are two ways to look at the process of creating the perfect bedroom:
1) How will it work for you, the usual occupant?
2) How will it look to the occasional visitor, partner or potential buyer?
The master bedroom should offer the householder the most indulgent space to be found within the home. This is the one room where you will most often be naked for comfort or recreational purposes rather than just the strictly practical and so should be warm in winter, refreshingly cool in summer, and comfortable both underfoot and in every single texture employed in the styling.

Be a little extravagant here, after all this is shoes-off space, so you should be thinking about a choice of flooring that look great, feels good underfoot, and can cope with whatever stresses you might put upon it (exercise equipment, foil fast food trays, his'n'hers fluffy slippers).
Ideally the bed should never be crushed into a corner or set against a wall. It doesn't look good, the noise transfer from other rooms is bad for the sleeper, and the walk room around the bed will always make a space look larger and more welcoming.
Try whenever possible to think about new furniture for small rooms as crushing in items from a previous home makes for an all too obvious visual compromise. Also avoid too much built in wardrobes space. Ideally wardrobes should never exceed one wall of a room or else they begin to dominate the space.
