A Type One takes life seriously. They have high standards which they apply equally to themselves and others. People's failure to live up to these expectations will trigger a One's natural tendency to be critical, judgemental and intolerant. Naturally, continual exposure to the taste purgatory which bedevils most people's houses will send a One into a perfectionist rage. 'Morons! How do they expect to sell a house with black ash furniture and vinyl floor tiles?'
In order to sell, what I apparently need is less of everything, less colour and clutter, less squalor and oddity. Watered-down blandness is what the buyers evidently want
When a One visited my home recently, he neatly summed up my dilemma: 1880s house, 1980s decor, expect a sale sometime in the 2080s. Unless...at which point he proceeds with a sermon brutally detailing the myriad of flaws lurking in my innocuous terraced house. 'Boho chic', I am advised, 'is very difficult to carry off'. 'You haven't managed it', he adds rather unnecessarily. In order to sell, what I apparently need is less of everything, less colour and clutter, less squalor and oddity. Watered-down blandness is what the buyers evidently want.
Annoyingly, Ones are often right, although they are ungracious in victory. Being a One means always having to say I told you so.
Ones did not complete the charm finishing school. They would rather win the argument and lose the deal. Their fundamental aim is excellence rather than success. But if you are thick-skinned enough to handle (or not notice) their truculence, you could do a lot worse than a One.
