As one of the experts in her field, Trisha is optimistic about the French property market: 'Nowadays people can get almost anywhere in France with a cheap airline, so what determines where people buy is budget and climate,' she says. 'A lot of people are buying new-build and some people are purchasing through the government's leaseback scheme.'

Aside from the money to be made, the high quality of life also attracts people to France - and at the heart of la vie Francais is food. Trisha is a big fan of French cuisine. The Limousin region is loved for its beef and trout. 'It's different to northern France where everything's laden in butter,' she says, 'It's good-quality food, simply cooked.'

And if you want to sample both her cooking and see the Moulin des Combes in the flesh, then Trish now offers holidays based at her house.

  1. The best place to look for info about Limousin and properties that meet your needs is our sister site www.aplaceinthesun.com. I also found some good info for you here http://www.frenchpropertylinks.com/limousin/. My Mum lives next door in Auvergne which is also really nice. Basically that whole area is very unspoilt, but prices are rising and you need to watch the strong Euro. Best advice is to visit lots and find somewhere you like with good transport links. There are many very pretty villages in the area which benefit from tourism and being well kept, visit www.les-plus-beaux-villages-de-france.org
