Property 3: A Villa Fit for a King
This is one of the most extraordinary properties we have visited. Set on three floors, it's a seven-bedroom mini-palace for just £180,000. It's a 15-minute walk from the medina and is in an opulent suburban area called Luxor, a neighbourhood dotted with grand villas and tall palm trees.
Inside, its Arabic flavour is enhanced by hand-cut tiles but it's no historic home - the villa is brand new but like many old homes has a terrace from which you can enjoy unobstructed views of the magnificent snow-capped Atlas Mountains.

Property 4: Three Bedrooms and a Plunge Pool
This riad was recently-renovated and is in the Dar Bacha district, away from the chaos of the souks and near the Royal Palace. A number of riads in this area are being used as guesthouses, so it's a popular place for tourists. This riad has been beautifully restored including cedar panelling, intricate plasterwork and mosaic tiles all adding touches of extra colour to the white and pink walls.
The property dates from the 19th century and feels historic. The central courtyard is based around a small but deep plunge pool and there is a tiny box room underneath where you can turn the pool into a jacuzzi. There is also a lounge, three en-suite bedrooms and two extra shower rooms. One of these is on the roof terrace, so you can cool down after an afternoon's sunbathing.
