Once the Inland Revenue (Service des Impots) has received notification of the new company being registered, they send a booklet called ‘Livret Fiscal’ which is a comprehensive guide on the various corporate tax levels (usually 15per cent to 33.3 per cent) and VAT levels (5.5 per cent to 19.6per cent) as well as dates and terms of payment.
You may be entitled to assistance with set up and ongoing costs as Robin explains, “As in most countries in the world, there are many regulations and exemptions available depending on the nature, age and size of the business. Using a chartered accountant, an ‘expert comptable’, is highly recommended if you do not want to fall foul of the law or miss out on a tax benefit or incentive.”
