The Aussie ‘can-do’ attitude and a perceived more meritocratic lifestyle are often cited as being very appealing by many who decide to make a new life on the other side of the world.
Paul Arthur, director of emigration specialists, The Emigration Group, said: 'Australia hasn’t been hit as hard by the global slowdown as Britain and the country is still demanding the skills that Brits have to offer, even providing job opportunities in manufacturing and construction, which are at an all time low in the UK.
'Australia is in particular looking for people with professions in engineering, healthcare, construction and key IT roles. Applicants from these backgrounds will find their visa applications can be given priority processing.'

Laurence Britten of australianpropertybuyers.com.au said: 'In the quarter ending March 2009, Australia experienced the highest level of affordability in nearly six years with the national proportion of family income required to meet loan payments decreasing to 28.6 per cent from 32.4 per cent in the previous quarter.' The trends indicate that Australia has ridden out the worst of its house price decline.
