Home Group, one of the UK’s leading providers of affordable housing, is selling newly built one and two bedroom apartments at Celsius, once home to the Meteorological Office, in Bracknell, under the New Build HomeBuy scheme, one of five Government-led HomeBuy schemes.
Located just minutes from Bracknell Town Centre, with its excellent shopping and amenities, as well as a number of popular entertainment venues such as the cinema, bowling complex and the renowned John Nike Leisure Centre, all the apartments are surrounded by striking landscape gardens and have been built to maximize space and provide secure living.
Selected properties also come with allocated undercroft parking, balconies and lifts, whilst satellite wiring comes as standard and all interiors are bright and spacious. Prices start from as little as £56,875 based on a 35% minimum equity share.
To be eligible, buyers will have to be purchasing the property as their only home, be unable to buy anything on the open market and have enough savings to cover moving costs, and legal fees.
Christine Harris from Home Group, said: 'This has been a difficult year for first time buyers with the availability of both affordable homes and affordable mortgages shrinking dramatically. So, part buying/part renting a home may be the solution and Celsius is an excellent example of this type of property purchase - a good investment proposition for anyone wanting to live in a decent location without having to break the bank.'
Genesishomes, the sales arm of Genesis Housing Group, is also offering apartments for sale close to Brockwell Park and its famous, newly-refurbished Lido on a part-buy/part-rent basis under the New Build HomeBuy scheme.
Horizon, in Brixton Water Lane, offers a selection of stylish and contemporary one and two bedroom apartments, priced from £66,625 for a 25% share, based on a full market value of £266,500.
The innovatively-designed scheme includes green roofs and solar panels, making it not only environmentally friendly, with solar tubing providing energy to communal areas, but also cheaper for the residents living there as service charges are reduced.
In total, 20 apartments are available from Genesishomes on the part-buy/part-rent basis as part of the New Build HomeBuy scheme. This allows people to buy a share in a property and pay a subsidised rent on the rest. Once purchasers have bought, they can also buy additional shares if they wish, as and when they can afford to do so.
Also available to buy through New Build HomeBuy is Carew Grove in Streatham, South London. Notting Hill Home Ownership has launched the 25-apartment development, which is aimed at first-time buyers and families alike.
Situated minutes from Streatham Hill, Carew Grove is the redevelopment of the former Police residence building on Leigham Court Road and is located in a green and tranquil setting. A selection of the residences will have a balcony, and some will have views over Streatham. Car parking is also located onsite with five spaces available.
Prices for the one-bedroom apartments start from £43,750, based on a 25% share with the full market at £175,000. Prices for two-bedroom apartments start at £55,250, based on a 25 per cent share with the full market value at £221,000.
In the north of England, Keepmoat Homes, an approved supplier of the HomeBuy Direct scheme, aims to enable many more people in the North West, North East, Yorkshire and Midlands to climb onto the property ladder.
Keepmoat Homes will be offering the scheme at Suthers Court at Oldham. Pending approval, buyers will be able to secure a two bedroom property from as little as £96,596 – 70% of its original price.
Matt Ellery, sales manager with Keepmoat Homes North West, said: 'Current market conditions and the availability of mortgages for first time buyers is impacting heavily on both house hunters and the housing industry. First time buyers will play a key role in the housing market’s recovery. At present many house hunters are finding it increasingly difficult to secure credit and mortgages and first time purchasers require larger deposits. HomeBuy Direct will help those most in need.'
