Angela Brady set up Brady Mallalieu Architects with Robin Mallalieu in London 20 years ago. They are an award-winning, design-led practice who specialise in contemporary sustainable architecture. Recent new building projects include 200 homes at Mastmaker Road, E14 and two Islington housing projects at Highbury Crescent, N5 and Laycock St, N1 which includes St. Paul’s new doctor's surgery.
Angela has developed a particular interest in housing, community and educational projects, including sustainable and eco friendly design. She has worked on many award winning projects.
Angela has appeared both in the national and professional press and on television and radio on a regular basis. In 2004 Angela completed a 65 part TV series titled "Building the Dream" for ITV1, where a contemporary family home in Somerset she designed was constructed in 14 weeks. She filmed a tour of Dublin's new architecture for the RTE arts programme and appeared as an architectural advisor on Channel 5's TV series 'Hot Property' and BBC3's Radio and BBC Radio London architecture debates as well as The Ryan Tubridy Show on RTE.
She is a keen promoter and speaker on sustainable architecture and contemporary design and is a STEMnet ambassador for schools. Angela designs and runs inspirational design workshops for kids with Artsinform, CABE, RIBA, RIAI, MOMA, Crafts Council, DCMS and The Building Exploratory Hackney and in Dublin with The Irish Architecture Foundation at The Hugh Lane Gallery and The National Gallery of Ireland.
Angela was design champion of the London Development Agency Board for two years to July 2008 and is past chairperson of RIBA Women In Architecture, where she curated the Diversity exhibition for a 32 city world tour.
She is currently vice chair of the Civic Trust Awards and a member of CABE/English Heritage Urban Panel and a member of the RIAI Council.
Angela received an Irish Post/AIB Bank Award for personal achievement. She was made an honorary Fellow of the RIAI and FRSA. In 2007 she was highly commended as a finalist in the Women of Outstanding Achievement at Atkins Inspire Awards.
