8. Fundacio Joan Miro by Josep Lluis Sert (Image 8 of 10)
Josep Lluis Sert studied architecture in Barcelona and was a close friend of the artist Joan Miro. At the end of the 1960s he began working on a project which was to become the Fundacio Joan Miro (1976). Designed on Rationalist principles, it is set around a central patio, and includes terraces and interior courtyards in Mediterranean style, to blend in with the surrounding landscape. The building was enlarged in 1988 by Jaume Freixa.
