When baroque reached Spain, the style was often used as an add-on for existing buildings, such as the façade of the Museo Municipal, Madrid, by Pedro de Ribera (1721). The building was once an almshouse, but was remodelled with a fantastic frontispiece. The immense and sumptuous Baroque façade of Santiago cathedral by Fernando Casas y Novoa (1750), is another delight not to be missed.
