Visit Skoura to see a selection of Kasbahs set in the oasis, some dating from the 17thand 18th centuries. The walls of these fortresses are in pisé, a clay mixture that has to be renewed regularly, or the building will fall into disrepair within 20 years. Amerhidil Kasbah, from the 17th century, is breathtakingly beautiful, so much so that its image appears on banknotes.
