The perfect fusion of East and West, the Institut du Monde Arabe (1987), by the darling of French architecture Jean Nouvel, is based on Islamic style latticed wooden screens mixed with modern steel and glass and features a wall of photosensitive panels that open and close to regulate the amount of light entering the building.
