The Pompidou Centre by Richard Rogers & Renzo Piano (1977) puts all the workings of the building on the outside, including the steel struts of the skeleton, and utility pipes which are colour coded in bright reds, blues and greens. Inside the space is uncluttered and offers lots of flexibility.
