Le Corbusier also had an abiding interest in mass-produced urban housing. His Unite d’Habitation in Marseilles (1946 to 52) was built on a grand scale, containing 337 split level apartments in 23 types, standing on massive ‘pilotis’. The concrete used is patterned by the wooden shuttering it was poured into for shaping.
