In the early 20th Century Danes subscribed to Neo-classicism and Functionalism, their architects conjuring up buildings from iron, concrete and glass. From this hotbed of design came one of the greats of Danish architecture, Arne Jacobsen. His uncompromising design for the Danish National Bank (1978) is everything a bank should be – a real fortress for your money.
