Architect: Grimshaw/Arcadis
Opened in November 2007, Bijlmer Station is an immense glass and steel structure that stands to the south-east of Amsterdam city centre. The station is elevated to allow for a broad pedestrian boulevard (and bus station) underneath. This 70m wide promenade connects to the north/west Amsterdam football arena and to the east with a highly populated area of immigrant housing.
