Building a playhouse
It’s really easy to build a playhouse – they come as kits containing all the materials you’ll need. To be on the safe side, get non-toxic wood treatments and Perspex-glazed windows. Make sure you start with a firm and level base, such as a concrete pad or purpose-built decking, and fit the glazing and window beading before you put the playhouse together. Get your kids to join in and lend a hand!
How to insulate your home
Over half of all heat in the home is lost through loft space and walls – yet you can easily stop this happening. There isn’t a single good reason not to do it: insulating your home is quick and easy, and the average household could save up to £300 a year on bills and help reduce carbon emissions by being more energy efficient.
Laying timber decking
A timber deck gives you a great outdoor space for dining, entertaining or just relaxing. It’s a lovely alternative to a patio – it looks natural, and design and construction is relatively easy. All you need to do is build a frame from joists and add deck boards to create a flat surface. To complete the deck look, you can add more posts, handrails and spindles.
How to make and repair a lawn with turf
You can make a beautiful lawn without having to mess around with grass seeds – it’s much easier to buy rolls of turf. And if your lawn is looking a bit ragged, we show you how to restore it to its former glory.
