Homemade vanilla ice cream recipe

Alastair provides the perfect homemade accompaniment to his limoncello tart on Come Dine with Me Brighton.

Makes 6-8 big scoops


  • 6 egg yolks
  • 500ml whipping cream
  • 125g caster sugar
  • 1 vanilla pod, seeds only


How to make homemade vanilla ice cream

1. Combine the egg yolks, cream, sugar in a bowl and mix well. Add the seeds from the vanilla pod and pour into a freezer proof container.

2. Freeze overnight, stirring every 2-3 hours to break up large ice crystals.
