Apple barrel pate recipe

James got his party off to a fruity start on Come Dine With Me Wrexham

Serves 4


  • 25g butter
  • 1 gala apple, peeled, cored and grated
  • 300g soft cheese
  • 300g grated Wensleydale cheese
  • 25g walnuts, crushed

To serve

  • Salad leaves
  • Orange slices
  • Walnut oil


  1. Melt the butter in a frying pan and gently cook the apple until soft.
  2. Combine the soft cheese and grated cheese in a bowl and mix in the apple mixture. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  3. Take spoonfuls of the mixture and roll into small barrel shapes. Roll each in the walnuts and chill until needed. Serve with salad leaves and slices of orange, drizzled with walnut oil.
