Sally Morgan aimed to dispatch a few of her guests with a seriously rich chocolate dessert on the Come Dine With Me Halloween Special
For the cake
Preheat the oven to 170°C/gas mark 3. In a large bowl beat together the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Beat in the eggs a little at a time, then sieve in the flour and cocoa powder and gently fold together.
Pour the mixture into a greased and lined cake tin and bake for 25 minutes until springy to the touch. Allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack once cooked.
While the cake is cooling, melt the chocolate in a bowl set over a pan of just simmering water.
Cut the cooled cake into cubes then soak each piece in amaretto. Roll in crushed almonds and place on a baking sheet. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cake cubes then chill until firm.
Place the cake cubes in the bottom of 4 sundae glasses and scoop the ice cream on top.
