Chilli and garlic prawns in filo pastry baskets recipe

Diane kicks off with some hot and spicy prawns on Come Dine With Me Essex

Serves 4


  • 270g pack filo pastry
  • 50g butter, melted
  • Olive oil, for frying
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 red chillies, deseeded and chopped
  • 1kg raw peeled prawns
  • 50ml white wine
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • Mixed leaves, to serve


  1. Preheat the oven to 180ÚC/gas mark 4. To make the baskets, line 5 ramekins with 5 layers of filo pastry, brushing each layer with melted butter as you go. Bake for 10 minutes then remove and leave to cool on a wire rack.

  2. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the garlic and chilli until soft. Add the prawns and white wine along with the tomato ketchup and cook through for 4-6 minutes.

  3. Spoon the prawns into the filo baskets and serve with mixed leaves.
