Spiced tiger prawns and pilau rice recipe

Nicholas kicks off with a spicy prawn starter served with rice on Come Dine With Me South Buckinghamshire

Serves 4


  • 500g raw peeled king prawns
  • 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tsp hot ground pepper
  • 3 cupfuls pilau rice


  1. Place the prawns in a bowl and toss in the sweet chilli and pepper. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.

  2. Soak the rice for 30 minutes in cold water. Drain then fill with just enough water to cover. Bring to the boil, boil until the water has been absorbed then cover and turn off the heat. Allow to steam until tender.

  3. Heat the oil in a wok and fry the prawns until pink. Serve on top of the rice.
