Kirkland flexed his mussels in this classy starter on Come Dine With Me Luton
In a large lidded saucepan heat the oil and sweat the shallots and garlic until soft.
Add the herbs, butter, white wine and water and bring to the boil. Tip in the mussels and cover with a lid.
Steam for 4-5 minutes until all the shells have opened. Discard any mussels that open and serve with warmed French bread.
