Apple with almond crumble recipe

You'll crumble when you try Charlie Balch's apple and almond crumble recipe.


For the crumble

  • 200g of plain flour
  • 100g ground almonds
  • 175g of brown sugar
  • 200g of butter
  • nutmeg - a couple of scrapes
  • a pinch of cinnamon

For the apple mix

  • 450g apples, peeled, cored and cut into 25mm pieces
  • 50g brown sugar
  • 1 pinch of ground cinnamon


How to make apple with almond crumble

1. For the crumble: Mix flour, sugar, nutmeg and almonds in a bowl. Mix in the butter using your fingertips until it resembles crumbs.

2. Put fruit, sugar and cinnamon into dish and top with crumble mixture and cook in oven at 180°C for approximately 40 minutes until bubbly and crisp. Serve with cream, crème fraiche or ice-cream.
