How to Cook Like Heston
Heston Blumenthal takes off his chef whites and steps into a domestic kitchen to show viewers how to inject some Heston-style magic into homemade cooking read more on: How to Cook Like Heston
Chef, mad scientist and magician, Heston Blumenthal is famed for his culinary wizardry - playing with... the boundaries of physics and flavour to create truly unique eating experiences.
A natural rule-breaker, Heston decided he wanted to become a chef after a visit to a Michelin-starred restaurant in Provence aged 16. Over a decade later, after practising cooking and swotting up on techniques while working non-foodie day jobs, he emerged as an entirely self-taught chef - and no ordinary chef at that.
A pioneer of molecular gastronomy, Heston cooks up dishes designed to challenge the senses, such as snail porridge, liquid nitrogen ice cream and salmon poached in liquorice. Since opening in 1995, Heston's restaurant The Fat Duck has come to be regarded by many as the UK's best restaurant – one of only four in the country to hold three Michelin stars.
He's also brought his talents to our screens, giving Little Chef a gourmet makeover, overhauling the menus of four UK institutions in Heston's Mission Impossible, and entertaining celebrities with his fanciful and historical creations in Heston's Feasts. In his latest show, How to Cook Like Heston, he brings his skills to the domestic kitchen, demonstrating how to apply science to everyday ingredients.
