Volvo S80 (2006-) Review

Category: Executive 3.5 out of 5

Summary of the Volvo S80 (2006-)

Price Range: £22,245 to £36,745

Assets

Comfortable seats, good ride quality on smaller wheels.

Drawbacks

Doesn't have the cachet of competitors, nor is it as good to drive.

Verdict

An improvement over predecessor, but it's still not up to the German competition.

Volvo S80 Review

Reliability and Quality3 out of 5

The previous S80 had some minor glitches, mainly electrical, and was recalled a number of times for steering and suspension faults, as well as misfiring and other ignition problems. These issues were sorted out, and the S80 has since performed well in customer satisfaction surveys.

This new model appears to be well put-together, though one of our test cars had intermittent failures of its power steering and locking/alarm system. Still, it felt nice and upmarket inside, with plenty of soft-touch surfaces and leather that feels suitably luxurious, and we wouldn't expect any major mechanical issues.
