Volvo generally scores well above average in customer satisfaction and reliability surveys; it was 12th in the JD Power study last year. Though there has been the odd report of electrical and electronic issues with the S80, by and large it seems to be pretty dependable, and it is well-built and nicely put-together.
Owners do point out heavy front tyre wear, however - there's a lot of power and torque going to the front axle.
