Volkswagen Touran (2003-) Review

Category: Compact MPV 3 out of 5

Summary of the Volkswagen Touran (2003-)

Price Range: £16,225 to £17,945

Assets

Easy to drive, loads of safety kit, solid build, excellent suspension and handling, great for towing.

Drawbacks

No character, no single 'must-have' or distinguishing feature, van-like looks.

Verdict

The Touran is immensely competent, but not particularly thrilling; not a car to inspire passion, devotion, or even family fondness.

Volkswagen Touran Review

Reliability and Quality4 out of 5

Volkswagen continues to enjoy a reputation for solid build quality and reliability, though its cars are by no means infallible. There have been a few recalls for the Touran since launch, but nothing to serious.

The Touran meets initial expectations, looking well screwed-together and its interior is upholstered with decent-quality fabrics and plastics.

A few little niggles: the cupholders and some other little widgets are flimsy, and there are some rough, unfinished edges to some of the seams in the plastic fascia. 2007 versions receive improved interior fabrics and materials.
