Looks great, well built, lots of kit, punchy performance.
Uninspiring handling.
More frills than thrills.

Polos hold their value well, and hot hatchbacks are back in favour, so the GTI shouldn't provide any shocks at trade-in time. The Polo has long been the star of the supermini residual-value league table, and with its smarter trim and better build quality the facelifted version should fare even better. This goes for the GTI, too, as hot hatchbacks are back in favour.
Recent price-cuts have made the GTI better value, and it's undeniably well equipped. It's now little more expensive than a Peugeot 106 GTI and, though less fun to drive, it's a car of higher quality and more substance.
