Volkswagen Golf GTI (2009-) Review

Category: Hot Hatchbacks 5 out of 5

Summary of the Volkswagen Golf GTI (2009-)

Price Range: £23,015 to £23,600

Assets

Refined, civilised and sophisticated, yet still sporting; containable running costs.

Drawbacks

Too cosseting and not raw-edged enough for some.

Verdict

This grown-up GTI is a consummate all-rounder.

Volkswagen Golf GTI Review

Safety and Security5 out of 5

An excellent rating for the Mk6 Golf in the Euro NCAP crash-test programme; it scored 97% for adult occupant protection and 84% for child protection, though 61% for pedestrian protection (don't go running anyone over, then).

Standard equipment includes seven airbags (including a knee-protector for the driver and rear curtain airbags), the sophisticated stability and traction control system with the differential lock, Isofix child seat mounting points and parking sensors, plus daytime running lights and headlamp washer jets. Bi-xenon headlights with cornering beams are optional.
